Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Mental Health Technician in Naperville, IL for an evening part-time shift (3:00-11:30pm) with rotating weekends and holidays. Under RN supervision, you provide direct patient care for behavioral health patients, ensuring safety and contributing to treatment planning and documentation.

You will support hygiene, meals, ADLs, and transportation within the unit, while adhering to infection control and care plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to demonstrate de-escalation and behavior management techniques.
• A valid driver's license is required if off-site location; if using personal vehicle, maintain valid auto liability coverage.

Responsibilities

• Delivers, sets up and removes meal trays; assists with nutritional intake and documents dietary data.
• Assists with activities of daily living appropriate to patient age and needs; may help with bathing and toileting.
• Carries out plan of care considering patient age-specific needs; follows infection control standards.
• Assists with specimen collection, vitals, EKG (if trained) as delegated by charge nurse.
• Transports or escorts patients to other hospital areas as needed and completes admission documentation.
• Maintains therapeutic milieu by engaging with patients and redirecting behavior as needed.
