Job summary

Siena Francis House in Omaha, NE, is seeking a full-time Men's Shelter Staff member for Sunday through Thursday, 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM. The role focuses on implementing shelter policies, performing HMIS documentation, and maintaining a trauma-informed approach with guests and partners.

Responsibilities include shelter rounds, de‑escalation when needed, and supporting connections to case management. Prior experience in shelter environments and ability to pass a background check are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience operating within an emergency shelter environment and/or other homeless service provider preferred.
• Other experience in the human services field will be taken into consideration.

Responsibilities

• Models the agency’s mission in all interactions with shelter guests.
• Completes orientation packets for shelter guests upon arrival and as needed.
• Documents incidents in HMIS and maintains trauma-informed communication with guests and partners.
• Monitors dining hall experiences and maintains situational awareness to de‑escalate when needed.
• Completes shelter rounds and walk-throughs to ensure compliance with shelter policies.
• Fulfills documentation tasks including HMIS data entry and shift checklists as required.
• Builds rapport with guests to understand housing plans and supports referrals to case management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
