Job summary

Siena Francis House seeks a Men's Shelter Staff member for Tuesday through Saturday, 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM in Omaha, NE. You’ll support shelter guests in a trauma-informed environment and manage HMIS documentation and shelter operations.

Responsibilities include intake orientation, incident reporting, supervising dining, shelter rounds, and coordination with case management. Flexibility, multitasking, and strong communication are essential; MS Office and HMIS proficiency are expected, with Clarity

Qualifications

• Must understand trauma-informed care principles and apply them in interactions.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and timeliness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Familiarity with shelter environments and basic software tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Models the agency’s mission in all interactions with shelter guests.
• Completes Orientation Packets with guests on arrival and as needed.
• Completes Critical Incident forms and documents efforts in HMIS.
• Maintains a trauma-informed approach when interacting with guests, volunteers, and partners.
• Monitors and supervises guests’ dining hall experiences.
• Utilizes de-escalation methods and coordinates with crisis response when needed.
• Conducts shelter rounds and ensures guests follow shelter policies.
• Completes shift documentation (HMIS entries, checklists, work orders) and follows up as needed.
• Builds rapport with guests and supports housing plan discussions with case management.
• Assists guests with connections to shelter case management and other services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
