Job summary

Westhab is seeking a Safety Security Officer to protect clients, staff and the shelter property. The role operates 24 hours across all NYC borough shelters and is a relief position with mandated overtime.

You will report to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager, performing rounds and screen access to maintain safety. Requirements include a NYS Security Guard License, an 8-Hour Annual Certificate, and a High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior security experience required.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and current 8-Hour Annual Certificate. Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred F02.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Control access at the main entrance by screening clients/visitors with a magnetometer or x-ray to prevent weapons.
• Make hourly rounds throughout the facility and respond to incidents.
