Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Shelter Monitor to provide primary support to female residents in a residential facility. The role involves ensuring safety, handling intake, and maintaining cleanliness and order in the shelter, with access to bathrooms and dorm areas around the clock.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, referrals, and collaboration with program staff to uphold facility rules and quality service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Six months experience in the human service or customer service field, preferably with persons who are homeless.
• Basic computer skills in MS Office software, web browsing, and navigating MS Windows.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively within a team with varied roles (administration, case management, security).
• Perform intake for all clients and report behavior issues.
• Provide appropriate referrals as necessary.
• Provide direction and crisis intervention to clients as needed.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the facility and dorm areas.
• Ensure safety of clients and staff; respond to incidents and de-escalate when needed.
• Maintain logs and communicate concerns to supervisors.
