Job summary

Quince Street Village in Olympia, WA is seeking a Shelter Generalist to supervise and provide basic needs services to adults experiencing homelessness. You will help guests navigate social services, set boundaries, and maintain site safety during the shift.

Responsibilities include behavior management, documentation, and coordination with partner agencies to support residents toward stable housing. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for daily operations and crisis response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Ability to use a computer proficiently for documentation and data entry.
• Applicant must pass required background checks prior to offer of employment.
• Ability to provide a negative TB test.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor front gate traffic and access to residents and guests.
• Respond to disruptive behavior and crises; report to emergency services if needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of the site and surrounding area.
• Maintain written records and HMIS data entry.
• Engage with residents using motivational interviewing techniques to support housing goals.
• Collaborate with CCS staff and outside agencies to promote positive behavioral changes.
