Job summary

Hesed House in Aurora, IL is seeking a 2nd Shift Guest Care and Shelter Support Staff to help run daily shelter operations and treat guests with dignity. This full-time role offers a meaningful opportunity to support vulnerable populations in a busy shelter setting.

You will build respectful relationships, maintain a safe and welcoming environment, respond calmly to crises, and collaborate across Hesed programs to help guests on their path forward.

Qualifications

• Experience in shelter or service settings preferred.
• Ability to pass DCFS and criminal background checks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Build respectful, supportive relationships with guests while maintaining boundaries.
• Keep the shelter safe, clean, and operating, including meals and laundry.
• Respond calmly and make sound decisions in tense or crisis situations.
• Model everyday life skills and support guests toward housing goals.
• Assist across Hesed programs as needed.
