Job summary

Hesed House in Aurora, IL seeks a Director of PADS PM to lead the evening and overnight shelter operations, ensuring safety and compassionate care from 3 PM to 7 AM seven days a week. You will hire and develop staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with the AM team to sustain 24/7 service for homeless guests.

This hands-on leadership role emphasizes on-floor presence, teamwork, and effective partnerships with community partners and volunteers to deliver dignity and support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• 3–5 years in homeless services, shelter ops, or related field.
• Experience supporting people facing mental health challenges, trauma, or crisis.
• Budget management and reporting experience.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and model a strong culture across evening and overnight programs.
• Hire, schedule, and supervise PM and overnight shelter staff.
• Train staff in best practices, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care.
• Lead complex guest situations; ensure safety and order on shift.
• Coordinate with AM Shelter Director for 24/7 program alignment.
• Cultivate relationships with community partners and volunteers.
• Develop and manage the PADS Shelter budget and grants.
• Prepare program reports for Hesed Board and funders.
• Address staff conflicts with clear expectations and accountability.
