Job summary

West Warwick Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for Greenbush & Horgan Elementary Schools to work full-time, Monday through Friday, 3pm–11pm. The role requires responsibilities including cleaning, maintenance, heating/AC regulation, safety checks, and opening/closing duties.

The ideal candidate will help ensure clean, safe facilities for students and staff, comply with policies, and respond to building needs as directed by the Director of Property Services and head custodian.

Qualifications

• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times (including removal of snow)
• Cleans and maintains boilers and major equipment
• Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures
• Examines facilities for needed repairs and notifies head custodian/Director of Property Services
• Keeps grounds free from rubbish
• Keeps floors clean and in good condition
• Performs minor building repairs
• Maintains scheduled servicing of motors and mechanical equipment
• Reports damage to school property
• Remains on premises during and after school hours as required
• Assumes responsibility for security and fire safety
• Opens/closes buildings daily and secures doors/windows
• Moves furniture and supplies as directed
• Complies with disposal of trash/rubbish and waste
• Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Property Services and principal
