Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking an experienced Evening Nurse Supervisor (RN) for the Emergency Department, covering Waterville and Augusta campuses. This full-time exempt role involves leadership, coaching, and staff mentoring during the evening shift with call responsibilities.

Required are active Maine RN licensure and ED/ICU nursing experience, with BSN preferred. Strong communication and autonomous thinking are essential to manage complex patient care and interdepartmental collaboration.

Qualifications

• Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain in a timely fashion.
• BSN is preferred.
• Clinical expertise in ED or ICU nursing with at least 5 years as staff nurse with supervisory/charge nurse experience.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and autonomous critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing leadership for the department during assigned shift.
• Coordinate patient flow between units to maximize resources and meet service goals.
• Evaluate patient care and identify issues affecting outcomes.
• Coordinate care with staff, physicians, and other departments.
• Respond to complaints/conflicts and manage through established channels.
• Make administrative decisions in the absence of the Department Manager/Director.
