Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) seeks a 2nd Shift Nurse Aide (CNA) at the Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Danville, VA. Work includes assisting patients with daily living activities and promoting recovery and wellness.

You will respond to patient needs, support behavior management, and operate within hospital policies to ensure safety and comfort. Shift: 2 12-hour days (11:00–11:30) and 2 8-hour days (3:00–11:30) with a 30-minute meal break.

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Aide in Virginia in good standing.
• Basic computer skills for EHR documentation.
• Valid driver’s license required and must remain valid.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living to support recovery and wellness.
• Address patients' problems and concerns, encourage participation in activities.
• Manage behavior and crisis situations using least restrictive interventions per policy.
