Job summary

Regional One Health is seeking a phlebotomy technician to obtain and prepare blood specimens, perform routine tests, and transport samples to the proper laboratories. You will work evening shifts and provide compassionate care at the patient bedside.

The role requires phlebotomy training or Lab Liaison Technician certification, and a minimum of 1 year of hospital-based blood collection experience, with a focus on patient safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Lab Liaison Technician or Phlebotomy Technician training program required.
• Qualified to work with neonate, infant, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient populations as assigned.
• At least 1 year blood collection/phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and prepares specimens and performs tests per department policies and safety standards.
• Verifies patient identification and labels specimens according to policy.
• Transports specimens and test requests to appropriate labs.
• Visits patients bedside to collect blood specimens and assure patient comfort.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all tasks.
• Maintains equipment, records and supplies for the laboratory.
• Provides coverage for nights, weekends and holidays to ensure continuous lab coverage.
