Qualifications

• 0-2 years of phlebotomy experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) per policies to ensure timely specimen collection.
• Ensures positive patient identification using two identifiers and bedside labeling to prevent errors.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens to the laboratory maintaining sample integrity and safety.
• Explains procedures to patients to provide reassurance and a positive experience.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace per safety standards.
• Accurately documents patient and specimen information in the lab system complying with regulations.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered to meet clinical needs.
• Identifies and resolves specimen issues, including rejections and recollections.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to clarify orders and communicate specimen status.
• Adheres to safety requirements and laboratory procedures to ensure accreditation compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
