Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a phlebotomist to perform inpatient and outpatient blood collection, order entry and specimen preparation in a lab setting. The role involves accurate labeling, patient instruction and coordination with pathology teams.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or certified phlebotomy program, with up to six months of training preferred. This is a 40-hour week, evening shift position in Marlborough, MA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Must meet the regulations 105 CMR 180.180 or graduate from a certified program in phlebotomy.
• Up to six months of on the job phlebotomy training.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient phlebotomy for all inpatient units.
• Perform outpatient phlebotomy for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients.
• Enter orders and track specimens in Meditech and lab systems.
• Generate ABNs and provide patient instructions.
• Label specimens and prepare for dispatch to UMASS Pathology.
