Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood specimens by venipuncture and perform EKG and point-of-care testing for inpatients and outpatients. You will review orders and prepare ABN when needed, ensuring accurate specimen handling and documentation.

The role includes a 40-hour week with evening shifts (2:00 PM–10:30 PM) on a rotating schedule, every other weekend/holiday, with potential travel to other locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required or documented phlebotomy training.
• Phlebotomy training or prior phlebotomy experience preferred.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy with proper technique.
• Review physician orders to ensure tests meet Medical Necessity.
• Prepare ABN forms for tests not meeting guidelines and obtain signatures.
• Perform EKG, pulse oximetry and related testing and maintain equipment.
