Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist to support the Pharmacy Services team. The role involves preparing, formulating and packaging medications under pharmacist supervision, and coordinating with staff and patients to ensure accurate prescriptions and billing.

The technician will rotate among assignments, maintain confidentiality, and help with inventory, dispensing and customer interactions in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• RI Pharmacy Technician license current.
• CPhT certification or 1 year of licensed tech experience; exam within 6–12 months of hire.
• Ability to use pharmacy systems and standard software (pharmacy systems, billing).

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist and technicians in medication preparation and packaging.
• Input patient information and process billing and insurance details.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with the compliance program.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve issues or questions from patients/customers.
