Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician Specialist who rotates through all areas, supports pharmacists, and assists with preparation, formulation, packaging, and dispensing of medications. You will gather insurance information, process payments, and enter data into pharmacy systems.

The role requires Rhode Island licensure, CPhT certification or progress toward it, strong customer service, and computer skills. You will work evenings or shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent degree; completion of 1-2 years of college preferred.
• Maintains current unrestricted Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician licensure.
• Holds and maintains current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or has 1 year licensed tech experience; sits for CPhT exam within 6 months and achieves within 12 months.
• Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and email/calendar applications.
• Strong customer service presence and verbal/written communication skills; accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Know and act in accordance with Brown University Health Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
• Provide friendly, helpful customer service; inform patients about costs, wait times, and drug availability.
• Protect patient confidentiality and input data into pharmacy systems for accurate charging and insurance processing.
• Assist patients in resolving problems; refer complex questions to the pharmacist on duty.
• Facilitate referrals to case management and promote pharmacy services including delivery.
