Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. seeks a Perioperative Services Practice Assistant for a 40-hour evening schedule (2pm–10:30pm, Monday–Friday, including holidays) to coordinate the smooth flow of patients through the unit.

Under the Senior Operations Manager, you will manage admissions, bed assignments, and Epic data entry for event times and length of stay. You will interact with anxious perioperative patients and families while supporting a high-stress multidisciplinary surgical team,

Qualifications

• High school diploma, partial college preferred.
• Customer service and secretarial experience in a hospital setting.
• Bilingual desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families, collect admission information, correctly identify patients, place armbands and determine NPO status.
• Notify nurse of arrivals and admissions, assign patients to beds as per Nurse in Charge.
• Log patients into EPIC for event times and length of stay; correct discharged records.
• Prepare patient schedules for front desk, preop and PACU; update OR time changes.
• Coordinate transport and discharge status; liaise with surgical staff and families.
• Ability to float to other areas and perform essential secretarial duties across PACU, Preop, ERU and OR desks.
