Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for per-diem shifts (2:30pm-11pm every other weekend). The role supports CLIA-compliant lab operations and clerical duties across multiple departments.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• State CPT I or CPT II certification if required by state.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical tasks: data entry, filing, phone calls.
• Greets patients and visitors in a polite and friendly manner.
• Maintains knowledge of laboratory test terminology.
• Demonstrates phlebotomy knowledge and specimen collection across age groups.
• Processes specimens for pathology, microbiology, immunology, hematology, chemistry and blood bank (pre-analytic).
• Stocking and ordering routine supplies; keeps areas clean and organized.
• With training, may perform instrument maintenance and basic QC.
• Assist in Pathology with training and evaluation.
• Transcribe post-analytic results.
