Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant for the 2nd shift to support the main lab and clinical staff. This 20-hour-per-week role involves specimen intake, data entry, processing, and phlebotomy with on-the-job training.

minimum requirements include a High School Diploma and at least 1 year of lab or phlebotomy experience; phlebotomy certification or training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a general lab, specimen processing or phlebotomy area or enrolled in lab related education program.
• Phlebotomy Certification or training from an accredited School or Institution preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the main lab staff to ensure excellent patient care.
• Receives specimens into the laboratory information system.
• Inputs and retrieves lab results in LIS or hospital systems.
• Registers specimen dropoffs and ensures accurate data entry.
• Performs proper processing of specimens for transport to reference laboratories.
• Distributes specimens to relevant testing areas.
• Maintains quality control and assists with instrument checks and troubleshooting.
