Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL seeks a Per Diem Night Shift Laboratory Technician to perform a broad range of tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and related disciplines. You will ensure accurate reporting, quality control, and adherence to lab procedures.

ASCP certification is preferred and one year of hospital lab experience is desirable. The role offers nights with rotating weekends/holidays and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification is preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or CLIA equivalents.
• Current and valid state license if required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of laboratory tests per CLIA CFR 493.1425 and 493.1495.
• Adhere to procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient results.
• Maintain quality control and document corrective actions for off-spec results.
• Identify issues affecting test performance and escalate as needed.
• Perform maintenance on instruments and equipment and document the work.
