Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to support the central transportation team in Worcester. You will move patients by wheelchair or bed, deliver supplies, and assist with safe handoffs between units.

Required: high school diploma, English literacy, and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential; a signing bonus may be available during interview.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Escort ambulatory patients and transport by wheelchair, stretcher or bed; verify patient IDs.
• Assist nursing staff with moving patients using lift devices; follow infection control.
• Deliver stretchers, beds, cribs, or wheelchairs as needed and clean transport equipment.
• Transport patient specimens and other items following infection control guidelines.
• Perform ancillary transport duties such as delivering medical records and supplies.
