Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Patient & Equipment Transporter on the Worcester campus. The role is full-time, evenings, on-site, with responsibilities including transporting patients, equipment and materials across hospital areas to support patient care.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, be able to read/write/speak English, and obtain BLS within 6 months. Prior hospital experience is preferred, with an emphasis on safety, teamwork and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal and customer service orientation to support patient transport teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Escort ambulatory patients using wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, ensuring patient ID matches 2 identifiers.
• Assist nursing staff with moving/positioning patients using lift devices; follow isolation precautions.
• Deliver stretchers, beds, cribs, and wheelchairs as needed; deep-clean transport equipment biannually.
• Transport patient specimens and materials between Lab, Pathology, and Blood Bank per infection control guidelines.
• Deliver other items (medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-ray films, supplies) as required.
