Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Transporter to move child through geriatric patients between hospital areas using wheelchairs and stretchers in a safe, respectful manner. You will role model the organization’s values and participate in quality improvement activities as part of daily patient transport duties.

Responsibilities include verifying patient identity, coordinating with nursing staff, ensuring equipment readiness, and delivering messages and items across departments during evening

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to read, write and follow specific instruction.
• Must be able to sit 1-3 hours, stand and walk 3-7 hours per day, lift 25-50 lbs with good body mechanics.
• Must be able to use both hands/wrists and perform work with moderate deviation and occasional fine motor skills.
• Far and near vision must be accurate at 20/40, depth perception, and hear a whisper at 8 feet.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients of all ages using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Greets patient, verifies identity, and confirms transport needs.
• Informs nursing staff of patient departure and transport mode.
• Assists patients into wheelchairs or onto stretchers with proper equipment.
• Delivers reports, supplies, films, and specimens as requested.
