Job summary

Northwestern Medicine DeKalb Kishwaukee Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Patient Safety Technician (32 hours/week) to provide continuous bedside observation and safety oversight. Two shifts are available: 11:00 AM–7:30 PM or 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, with alternating weekends and rotating holidays.

The role requires a High School Diploma and BLS within 90 days of hire. You will monitor patients, de‑escalate agitation, assist with daily activities as delegated, and ensure safety at all times, both at

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Remains at bedside of assigned patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
• Provides calming and reorienting conversation with patient in cases of agitation or confusion.
• Identifies and removes hazards from patient and environment, and reports them as appropriate.
• May assist patient with activities of daily living as delegated by supervising RN.
• Provides continuous safety observation via video monitoring and uses de‑escalation techniques as appropriate.
• Remotely monitor multiple patients via video monitoring and summon staff via STAT alerts when needed.
