Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to join our care team in Central Massachusetts. The role supports licensed clinicians, performs essential patient care tasks, and communicates observations to RNs to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and obtain Basic Life Support within 30 days. Strong English communication and basic computer skills are required, with the ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy hospital

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days as a condition of employment.
• Proficiency in reading, writing and communicating in English; basic computer skills; knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Maintains patient safety through checks and adherence to policies; assists with daily living activities.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Performs basic clinical tasks including vital signs, EKGs, POC tests and specimen handling.
