Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Clinton, MA is seeking a compassionate patient care technician to support the RN in providing safe and timely care in the Emergency Department.

Job includes EKGs, labs, vital signs, and preparing patients for procedures; strong infection control and documentation required. Requires CNA/EMT/CMA certification or active nursing student status; evening shift, weekends every other weekend; non-exempt, paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of direct patient care experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control guidelines and sterile techniques.
• Ability to take direction, set priorities, and organize work assignments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under stress.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in a safe, timely manner under RN direction.
• Performs EKGs, collects laboratory specimens and vital signs as assigned.
• Maintains accurate documentation and physician orders in medical records.
• Stocks supplies and adheres to infection control and safety standards.
• Interacts effectively with diverse populations in stressful situations.
