UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team. This full-time role supports the RN, observes patient status, assists with daily living activities, and helps maintain a safe, respectful, and clean patient environment.

Required: high school diploma or GED and current BLS certification. Experience in inpatient/outpatient care is preferred. Evening shifts with weekend rotation; a potential signing bonus may be available during recruitment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• PCT I level competency: minimum 800 hours and 6 months in PCT I or 6 months inpatient/outpatient direct patient care.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Medical Terminology.
• Computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and service.

Responsabilités

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes in patients.
• Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assists in maintaining a safe environment and de-escalation as needed.
• Assists patients with daily living activities (hygiene, ambulation, meals).
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients with proper safety techniques.
• Performs patient safety checks and uses fall prevention strategies.
• Takes and records vital signs and anthropometrics.
• Performs EKGs, POC tests, bladder scanning, specimen labeling and transport.
• Phlebotomy in certain locations.
• Assists with treatments and procedures, including equipment setup and sterile technique.
• Assists with tube feeding and nutrition administration.
• Maintains communication with patients and families with respect and empathy.
• Replenishes supplies and equipment; follows Department policies.
