Job summary

Mercy Hospital Jefferson's Emergency Department is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first contact for patients, ensuring compassionate service and accurate data entry.

This role covers scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance in a fast-paced ED in Festus, MO. Evening full-time shifts offer premium pay and differential eligibility.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma.
• 1-3 years clerical experience preferred; experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication; telephone etiquette required.
• Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.
• Knowledgeable with various computer systems; able to use a 10-key calculator.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient entrance, including scheduling and registration.
• Verify benefits, assist with pre-certification and financial clearance.
• Ensure accurate patient data is entered into patient records.
