Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Sr Patient Access Associate for the Emergency Department in Omaha. This part-time evening role supports front-line access, pre-registration, and insurance verification while delivering compassionate, patient-centered service.

The position requires at least two years of customer service, excellent communication, and typing at 35 wpm. Training is provided; evenings schedule Tue–Sat, 6:00 PM–10:00 PM with a 3-week full-time training period.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years customer service experience required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills required.
• Ability to work in a proactive self-directed manner required.
• Typing 35 wpm with 95% accuracy rating required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire or transfer date required (AHA endorsed).

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and customers in a professional, timely manner; manage scheduling, pre-registration, and registration/admission.
• Verify insurance and receipting of payments to optimize cash flow.
• Provide patient way finding/escorting as needed; ensure accuracy of accounts.
• Maintain professionalism in stressful or emotionally charged situations.
• Support cross-department coverage and timely communication across teams.
