Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is hiring for an evening Registration position within the hospital’s patient access team. The role supports patient check-in, insurance verification, and coordination of appointments across radiology, lab, and other services.

This non-exempt position is 4 hours per shift (4 p.m. – 8 p.m.), with a 20-hour work week and a potential signing bonus. Final offers vary with scheduled hours and internal equity guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or certificate in Healthcare related field preferred.
• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Must have computer skills including Windows and basic navigation.
• Customer service skills both verbal and written; experience in a hospital setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enters demographic, insurance and related patient information into the registration system; ensures signatures on HIPAA papers.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage and follows insurer guidelines for pre-authorizations and referrals.
• Schedules Radiology, Lab and basic ancillary service appointments and handles ED/L&D demographics.
• Collects patient liabilities (deductibles, copays, coinsurances) and processes payments prior to or on the date of service.
• Maintains accurate records and supports billing/work queues for revenue cycle.
