Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL seeks a part-time Evening Lab Technologist to perform waived to highly complex tests under CLIA across Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and related disciplines. The role requires adherence to quality control, documentation, instrument maintenance, and collaboration with the department.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other CLIA educational requirements.
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA across multiple disciplines (Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology).
• Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis and reporting of patient test results.
• Maintain instruments and equipment with regular daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and document actions.
• Review the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting and recognize age-specific differences in expected results.
• Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures and adhere to safety and infection control policies.

Education

ASCP certification or equivalent

Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology

Current and Valid State License where required
