Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Operating Room Technician to join our surgical team. The role involves preparing the operating room, assisting surgeons and nurses during procedures, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and compassionate perioperative environment.

The position requires an accredited OR Technician program completion, AST and BLS certifications, and a full-time evening schedule (11pm–7am). Strong teamwork and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician training program.
• Current certification through the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) and American Heart Association BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures with instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
• Provide scrub support to surgeons and scrub team throughout procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards during all operations.
• Assist with positioning, prepping, and draping patients as directed by the surgical team.
• Assist with instrument handling and setup for each case and between cases.
• Support perioperative team to ensure patient safety, comfort and dignity throughout the procedure.
