RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Operating Room Technician for the Newark, NJ area. The role supports the surgical team by preparing the OR, assisting surgeons and nurses, and maintaining sterile technique to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

The position requires completion of an accredited OR Technician program, HS diploma, and AST and BLS certifications, with a typical evening, full-time schedule (11pm–7am).

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed Accredited Operating Room Technician training program.
• AST certification and BLS certification required.

Mansioni

• Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are available, organized, and functioning properly.
• Scrub and assist surgeons, registered nurses, and other members of the surgical team.
• Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention, aseptic practices, and organizational policies.
• Handle, organize, and pass surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Assist with direct patient care activities before, during, and after surgery while supporting patient safety, comfort, and dignity.
• Support the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of surgical instruments and operating room equipment between procedures.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other perioperative team members to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and ongoing professional development to support clinical excellence and continuous learning.
• Practice within the legal and professional scope of the Operating Room Technician role while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
