Job summary

ABB Optical Group seeks an optical lab technician to process products in the lab with emphasis on accurate and timely production. You will handle lens mounting, tinting, and finishing tasks, ensuring quality and adherence to SOPs, while supporting team goals.

The role requires basic high school education, potential six months in optical manufacturing, and a willingness to work the 3pm–12am shift. Overtime may be required, with benefits for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required for full-time employment.
• Entry-level: No specific prior work experience required; training provided to enable employees to perform the minimum essential functions identified by their respective lab/department.
• Proficient: Minimum six (6) months of optical manufacturing experience in same or similar position prior to skills assessment to determine ability to perform all applicable essential functions identified by their respective lab/department.
• Ability to follow procedure and contribute as an individual and a team member.

Responsibilities

• Use tracing machine to measure frame, print and match paperwork, and locate lens needed.
• Invoice and package finished jobs; scan and bin jobs for shipping.
• Sort and receive frames; place in appropriate trays for processing.
• Secure lenses and operate finishing equipment; clear machine errors and maintain tools.
• Mount and align lenses in frames; edge lenses for insertion into frames.
• Tint lenses to specified color and manage tint changes as needed.
• Unload and inspect lenses; inspect surfaces and perform cosmetic checks.
• Meet production expectations and follow SOPs; participate in team and department meetings.
