Job summary

Mercy Health's St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) to perform routine tests on blood, tissues and other specimens, delivering quality results with a focus on patient safety.

The MLS must understand lab techniques and ensure compliance with protocols. Requirements include a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field and MLS certification or eligibility, with externship preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA-approved program.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, accurate manner per lab procedures.
• Assess specimen acceptability via visual inspection and abnormal results recognition.
• Conduct quality control and ensure results meet established ranges before release to physicians.
• Maintain safe, organized work area and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
