Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Mattawan, MI, is seeking an experienced Technician I – Necropsy for the 2nd Shift Pathology Services Team. You will perform euthanasia and post-mortem exams, learning onboarding skills and lab procedures under supervision to gain proficiency.

The role supports animal welfare, data collection, and adherence to GLP/SOPs, with a 12 PM–8:30 PM schedule plus weekend/holiday rotations. No sponsorship required at this time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; biology degree preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve goals.
• Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Commitment to safety and GLP/SOP compliance.
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform euthanasia and post-mortem examinations with proper animal handling.
• Train in onboarding skills including dissections and sample collection.
• Collect, verify, and document study data.
• Use and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Prepare lab solutions and keep work areas clean.
• Adhere to GLP, SOPs, BOP, and IACUC rules.
