Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Minnesota is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician for the M Health Fairview Clinic - Eagan. Evening shift 11:00 am–7:30 pm, with weekend rotation across South region UC locations; potential to cover other SE clinics as needed.

The MLT will perform waived to high complexity testing per SOP, maintain QC, operate instruments, collect specimens, verify patient identities, and communicate results, while contributing to quality assurance and staff mentoring

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher in a related laboratory field including practicum to qualify for moderate complexity testing.
• Degree in chemical/biological/clinical/medical lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• 60 semester hours with 6 biology and 6 chemistry; transcript must be provided.
• Eligibility for DOH-approved laboratory certification; ASCP/ASCPi/AMT/AAB-MLT within 1 year.
• BLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or high complexity testing per SOP and report results.
• Collect and process specimens with proper technique and verify patient identity.
• Operate laboratory instrumentation and information systems per procedure.
• Maintain supplies and document QC checks and maintenance.
• Communicate abnormal results to care providers and escalate as needed.
• Support quality assurance and performance improvement programs; mentor staff and students.

Education

Associate degree or higher in related laboratory field (CLIA moderate complexity)

Chemical/biological/medical laboratory science degree or diploma

60 semester hours with biology and chemistry

HHS laboratory certification eligibility; ASCP/ASCPi/AMT/AAB-MLT within 1 year

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days
