Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Laboratory Care Technician at M Health Fairview St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This is a part-time, benefit-eligible role with a 0.6 FTE schedule, evening shifts 1:30pm-10:00pm, with every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Training runs 4–5 weeks full-time before transitioning to the regular schedule. Responsibilities include specimen collection, data entry into LIS/HIS, and maintaining safety and quality standards while delivering compassionate

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program or enrollment in related program.
• Three months of clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience or active student in MLS/MLT.
• Demonstrate competence collecting blood samples and handling specimens.
• Excellent customer service in diverse settings and ability to work under stress.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs to obtain specimens and perform procedures.
• Collect biological specimens using proper technique and safety.
• Perform phlebotomy at various sites and communicate handling needs.
• Utilize LIS/HIS to enter orders, collect data and results.
• Maintain quality control and equipment upkeep; monitor inventory.
• Mentor students and help prioritize workloads to support patient care.
• Transports samples safely and seeks help for unusual situations.
