Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician to join the M Health Fairview Clinic - Highland Park team. Shifts run 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Monday–Friday, with one weekend every four weekends, and possible coverage at nearby clinics in Midway or Riverside. The MLT performs waived to high complexity testing under CLIA guidelines and supports specimen collection, QC and reporting.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate or higher degree in a related laboratory field with practicum or equivalent.
• Degrees in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with transcript/diploma.
• Requires 60 semester hours with 6 biology and 6 chemistry.
• Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training with appropriate degree/credits.

Responsibilities

• Obtain specimens and perform waived, moderate, or high complexity testing per SOP.
• Collect and process biological specimens with proper technique and verify patient identity.
• Operate lab instrumentation and information systems per procedures.
• Document maintenance checks and ensure adequate supplies.
• Communicate abnormal or critical results to care providers.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement and compliance programs.
• Orient and mentor new employees and students; complete training checklists.

Education

Associate degree or higher in lab science

Clinical lab science degree or equivalent

60 semester hours in biology & chemistry

50-week U.S. military med lab training with degree/credits
