Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field required.
• College diploma required as part of CAP requirements.
• Completion of student clinical rotations during training.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and/or specialized testing with supervision as appropriate.
• Operate laboratory instruments and maintain related records.
• Perform quality control and instrument checks with proper documentation.
• Inoculate, culture, classify and identify microorganisms from bodily fluids and specimens for infectious disease data.
• Group or type blood and determine donor-recipient compatibility where applicable.
• Conduct chemical and/or immunological tests to identify substances in blood and body fluids.
• Count and describe morphology of cells and perform coagulation testing.
• Prepare reagents and stains per standard formulas.
• Train others in day-to-day procedures and safety.
