Job summary

The Inn at Hastings Park in Lexington, MA is seeking a detail-oriented PM Line Cook to oversee the evening kitchen operations. You will supervise line chefs, ensure food quality and safety, manage inventory and costs, and coordinate with front-of-house during peak service.

Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. You will mentor staff, uphold sanitation standards, and maintain consistent plating quality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years line cooking experience in fast-paced restaurant or food service
• Experience supervising or managing a kitchen shift
• Strong knowledge of food safety practices and local health codes
• Proficient with standard kitchen equipment and tools
• Experience with inventory control and managing food costs
• Excellent time management and ability to multitask under pressure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate a team
• Experience with POS systems and kitchen mgmt software is a plus

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all line cooking activities during the PM shift
• Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards per health codes and protocols
• Train, mentor, and evaluate line cook staff
• Manage kitchen inventory and monitor food costs to minimize waste
• Schedule staff shifts based on service volume
• Communicate with front-of-house and management on kitchen status
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs
• Ensure proper plating and consistent presentation of dishes
• Monitor costs and portion control to maintain quality
• Lead by example with professionalism and efficiency
• Address operational challenges to maintain service flow
