Job summary

Indiana University in Indianapolis seeks an Evening Operations Manager within the University Library’s Access Services Team (AST) to oversee evening and weekend operations and guide hourly staff. You will ensure welcoming service at the service desk, uphold library policies, and coordinate with campus partners during non-business hours.

The role requires strong communication, supervision of staff, and rapid response to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required (HSED or GED).
• 4 years of library experience required.
• Proficient communication skills required.
• Maintains a high degree of professionalism and time management.
• Ability to build strong customer relationships and use information systems.
• Understanding of security protocols for library users.”

Responsibilities

• Provides welcoming and engaged user-centered library service at the main information desk in person, by email, phone, and chat.
• Assists patrons with resources, databases, course reserves, and access to digital collections.
• Monitors library systems and maintains basic records and reports.
• Oversees opening and closing procedures and acts as designated Person In Charge when needed.
• Provides support to student tutors and Welcome Desk staff in the Student Success District evenings.
• Coordinates with Campus Facilities and Client Support Team for daily operations and emergencies.
