Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Residential Care Counselor at Bradley Hospital in East Providence, RI. Under supervision, you will care for and ensure safety of children, contribute to milieu therapy plans, and document progress in medical records.

You will participate in treatment team conferences and support crisis management, daily living activities, and group sessions with patients and families. The role requires a Baccalaureate in a human services field, plus relevant certifications

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Services field.
• Demonstrated knowledge to provide care to patients across life span.
• Three years’ experience with emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children/adolescents.
• Current Bradley Hospital crisis management certification.
• Current CPR, ERS, OSHA, and Safety Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment and develops milieu care plans for assigned patients.
• Intervenes in disruptive situations with timely therapeutic interventions and documents outcomes.
• Participates in patient care planning, admission interviews, and communication with the treatment team.
• Leads therapy groups and activities; supports crisis management and staff supervision.
• Demonstrates leadership in crisis situations and provides mentoring to junior staff.

Education

Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Services field

Other education and experience considered and may be substituted for educational requirements
