Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Residential Care Counselor to provide care and safety for assigned children within a multidisciplinary treatment setting.

The role includes initiating treatment plans, documenting progress, and maintaining a therapeutic environment under supervision. Required are initial assessments, daily care plan reviews, crisis management, CPR/ERS/Safety certifications, and a commitment to hospital standards and patient care excellence.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Service field.
• Six months to one year of direct child care work with emotionally impaired youth.
• Current CPR, ERS, Safety & OSHA certifications are required or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Supports initial therapeutic alliance with child and family on admission.
• Completes initial milieu assessment within a 24 hour period.
• Develops initial problem list and residential care plan within 24 hours of admission.
• Reviews residential care plan and problem list daily and revises as necessary.
• Maintains accurate documentation of observations and treatment in the child’s chart.
