Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Laboratory Care Technician (LCT) for the Acute Care Laboratory at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank. This full-time evening shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) includes 3 weekends out of 6 and occasional holidays.

The LCT collects specimens, processes orders, and supports LIS/HIS data entry in a fast-paced lab. The role emphasizes accuracy, patient communication, safety, and collaboration with the lab team to ensure quality results and

Qualifications

• High School graduate or higher.
• Diploma/GED or transcript must be provided.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program.
• Three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy/lab experience or enrollment in MLT/MLS with phlebotomy course.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Customer service background in diverse settings.
• Ability to work under stress.
• Demonstrate independent judgment.
• Manual dexterity in specimen collection.

Responsibilities

• Obtain biological specimens following SOPs.
• Perform phlebotomy at various sites.
• Use effective communication with patients and families.
• Ensure proper specimen handling and labeling.
• Schedule tests and enter collection data into LIS/HIS.
• Assist with quality control and safety procedures.
