Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Laboratory Technician to collect and process laboratory specimens, and support routine duties in the assigned section. The role includes specimen retrieval, labeling, LIS data entry, and ensuring proper safety and quality standards.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with 1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred. Shifts are 3pm–11:30pm, Monday–Friday with rotating weekends and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• One to two years of laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves specimens and transports to the lab for analysis.
• Logs specimens into the laboratory and files specimens.
• Reviews specimen identification and reports discrepancies.
• Maintains a clean, safe work environment per safety standards.
• Records and monitors supplies and inventory.
• Conducts quality control and preventive maintenance of equipment.
