Job summary

Responsibilities

• Retrieves specimens and transports them to the laboratory for analysis.
• Logs specimens, bags and files, and discards surgical specimens as needed.
• Reviews specimen identification and reports discrepancies.
• Maintains clean, safe work environment and reports hazards.
• Maintains records and supplies, and performs quality control checks.
• Performs preliminary setup for specimens and assists with LIS entries.
• Screens visitors and handles calls, provides lab results as needed.
• Performs send-out testing and coordinates shared testing with other MedStar hospitals.
