Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking a dependable Lab Accessioning/Processing staff member for the Palo Alto area. You will accession patient information, receive and process specimens, and distribute results and reports accordingly.

The role includes assisting with training, maintaining logs, and supporting the lab team to ensure accurate, timely patient care. Strong English communication and organization are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to establish good working relationships with staff.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic lab procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accessions patient information accurately into Laboratory computer system.
• Distributes samples to appropriate areas after processing.
• Answers phones, responds to inquiries regarding testing status and results.
• Assists with media, reagent and glassware preparation as needed.
• Follows departmental policies on attendance, safety and health.
• Resolves routine problems and seeks supervisor help when needed.
• Keeps work areas clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Trains Lab Assistants and orients new employees to procedures.
