Job summary

Stanford Health Care's Clinical Laboratory Services in Palo Alto is seeking a Pre-Analytic Specialist to support accessioning, receiving and specimen processing in a fast-paced 24/7 operation.

You will handle report distribution and collaborate with physicians and hospital staff to ensure accurate results and timely processing. A High School Diploma or GED is required; no prior experience is needed, with a emphasis on teamwork and patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of staff.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory testing procedures and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Accession patient information into the Laboratory computer system.
• Distribute processed samples to appropriate areas in the laboratory.
• Answer phones and respond to inquiries regarding testing status and results.
• Assist with media, reagent, and glassware preparation as needed.
• Maintain logs and ensure cleanliness and compliance with safety procedures.
• Provide orientation and training to Lab Assistants.
